Instagram has 3 billion active users every month. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Wednesday.
“It’s an incredible community that we’ve built here,” Zuckerberg posted on her Instagram channel.
The figure is a major milestone for photo sharing apps acquired by social media companies in 2012 for $1 billion.
Meta last disclosed its Instagram user numbers in October 2022 when Zuckerberg said in a revenue call that the app had surpassed 2 billion users each month.
Meta said in April 2024 that it would no longer disclose monthly active user numbers for Facebook and its sibling apps quarterly. Since then, Meta has reported the number of active people each day using the app’s family in each quarter. That figure reached 3.48 billion, the company said in July that analysts estimate was 3.45 billion.
With 3 billion users each month, Instagram is participating in the Facebook and WhatsApp platform ranks.
In January, Zuckerberg said the Facebook app is “in use by over 3 billion people every month.” In April, Zuckerberg told analysts that WhatsApp has “more than 3 billion active monthly.”
