OpenAI said in an X post earlier Thursday that its popular ChatGPT assistant, Sora video generator, and programming interface for software developers are working again after several hours of downtime.
ChatGPT has become mainstream. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said on December 4 that his company’s technology reaches 300 million active users each week. on wednesday, apple has released a new version of its software for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that integrates with ChatGPT.
According to OpenAI’s status page, ChatGPT has been down for just over four hours. The power outage in June lasted more than five hours.
OpenAI was valued at $157 billion in October funding round that included participation from existing backers microsoft Chip manufacturers too Nvidia. The company’s rapid rise began with the launch of ChatGPT in late 2022, which became the biggest topic in the technology industry in recent years.
OpenAI announced on Monday that it would be releasing Sora to people in the US and most other countries, but on Tuesday, Altman told X: “We vastly underestimated the demand for Sora. It will take some time for that to happen,” he wrote.
