CNN is trying again with full-service streaming subscriptions.
news network owned by warner bros discoveryannounced Thursday that its “All Access” subscription will launch in the U.S. on Oct. 28 and cost $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year.
The new plan is proposed as a centralized hub for CNN’s journalism, including live and on-demand U.S. and international video programming across all platforms, articles from CNN.com, and access to subscriber-only content. To attract early adopters, the company is offering a limited-time annual subscription for $41.99 to those who sign up by January 5th.
“No one has the ability to cover the world like CNN,” Alex McCollum, executive vice president of digital products and services for CNN Worldwide, said in a release. “This is an essential step in the evolution of CNN, delivering a comprehensive experience that meets how our viewers consume news today.”
The All Access plan builds on CNN’s existing digital subscription, now rebranded as the Basic level. The Basic plan, which originally launched in 2024, includes unlimited access to CNN articles and some subscriber features, but no video content.
The news agency has been considering various subscription option ideas for years.
CNN+, a subscription service that combines live news, on-demand programming, and unique original series, is shutting down just one month after launching in March 2022. The closure was partly a result of the April 2022 merger between Warner Bros. and Discover, as well as disappointing subscriber numbers and internal challenges at CNN.
Warner Bros. Discovery is undergoing a unique transformation. In June, the media giant announced plans to split into two public companies by 2026. The streaming and studio company will include film properties and HBO Max, and the global network company will include CNN, among others.
