The US prosecutor in a criminal case against Tornado Cash co-founder and developer Roman Storm provided testimony from an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) agent preparing to rest from the lawsuit on Thursday.
According to a report from the Inner City Press on Wednesday, Stephen George, a special agent in the IRS criminal investigation, testified that he reviewed transaction records related to crypto exchange crypto.com and Binance.
George reportedly stated that after an account connected to Binance sent Crypto to Crypto and then sent Crypto to the address of Tornado Cash Smart Contract, based on communications between Storm, Alexey Pertsey and Roman Semenov.
This testimony followed a challenge from Storm’s lawyers and attempted to rule out based on a review of Hanfen Lin’s experience. This is the victim of a romance scam who testified earlier in the trial about stolen cryptocurrency funds sent through Tornado cash. Storm’s lawyers suggested that they might move due to the misstatement after the investigation suggested that the research was not in the cryptographic mix service.
“His accounting background may have provided him with expertise to carry out the analysis he holds for him to do, but he is not entitled to testify about the government’s current proposed tracking of criminal proceeds in cryptocurrency.

The question of whether Storm has the ability to control tornado cash by blocking or ignoring illegal funds, as the prosecutors argues, is central to his criminal case debate.
Another government witness was expected to testify about whether the storm could have modified the platform to stop criminal activity, but reportedly discussed the actions of the mixer in response to sanctions.

The defense attorney is preparing to present their case.
Storm faces charges of money laundering, conspiracy to run licensed remittances, and conspiracy to violate US sanctions related to his role in tornado cash. US prosecutors expect the case to be concluded “before lunch” on Thursday, and said Storm’s lawyers will then begin offering their defense.
According to the Inner City Press, Storm’s lawyers will be calling “two or three doctors” to testify, and are probably expert witnesses in chain analysis.
