MicrosoftTop Rank Sales Leader Judson Altov has been promoted to a larger role as CEO of the company’s commercial business.
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella wrote in a note Wednesday that marketing and operations will move under the Althoff organization. Most of Microsoft’s revenue comes from commercial products such as productivity software subscriptions and cloud-based products nvidia A chip for running artificial intelligence models.
“Our success depends on enabling commercial and public sector customers and partners to combine human capital with new AI capabilities to change the frontiers of how they operate,” Nadella wrote in an email. “To accelerate this, we need to bring together sales, marketing, operations and engineering to drive growth and strengthen our position as a select partner for AI transformation.”
Althoff and I joined from Kara Oracle He was already one of Microsoft’s highest wage executives as president of Microsoft’s North American operations in 2013, earning a total wage of $23 million in 2024. His latest title was Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer.
Under Nadella, who replaced Steve Ballmer as CEO in 2014, Microsoft uses CEO titles from selected executives more frequently.
LinkedIn acquired CEO in 2016 after Microsoft acquired the company. Last year, Microsoft hired Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of the now Google-owned Deepmind AI Lab, to become CEO of a group called Microsoft AI, which includes Bing. Github, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2018, had a CEO until last month when Thomas Dohmke left the company.
