The MSG Network has signed a deal with the fourth-largest US cable provider to revive the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils. Rangers vs Sabres Game at 5:30pm
“MSG Network and Altice USA Today have announced that they have reached an agreement on renewing their MSG network with the best video lineup,” the company said in a statement. “We would like to thank patience as MSG Network and Altice USA have partnered to reach this new deal to benefit our fans and optimal subscribers.”
No specific terms of the agreement have been released. With this agreement, Altice USA offers the option to move the MSG network to the “all TV” tier for new and existing customers. Altice USA now offers sports-free skinny bundles for less money.
Altice USA pays MSG networks less freight charges than before, according to those familiar with the contract. Altice USA and the MSG Network spokesman declined to comment beyond the statement.
Altice USA has not carried the MSG network since January 1st. Pay TV operators such as AlticeUSA are struggling to gain flexibility in Tier Regional Sports Networks as a way to keep cable TV subscribers down costs.
