Spotify In the first quarter of 2025, he said he paid more than $100 million to podcast publishers and podcasters around the world.
The diagram includes all the creators on the platform across all formats and contracts, including the platform’s biggest fish, Joe Rogan, Alex Cooper and Theo Fon.
The host of “Joe Logan Experience,” Logan was one of Spotify’s top podcasts in 2024, with Cooper from “Call Her Daddy” and “This F/Theo Von This Weekend.”
Rogan and Cooper’s exclusiveness agreement concluded with Spotify, and while Rogan signed new Spotify deals worth up to $250 million last year, including revenue sharing and the ability to post on YouTube, Cooper signed a SiriusXM deal in August.
Even if the shows are no longer Spotify-only, they are still eligible for the Spotify Partner Program, which was uploaded to the platform and launched in January in the US, UK, Canada and Australia.
The program allows creators to earn money every time an ad that Spotify plays on an episode is monetized.
Competing platform Patreon said it paid more than $472 million to Podcasters in 2024 from more than 6.7 million paid members.
YouTube payments are large by comparison, but they contain more than just podcasts. The company said it paid creators $70 billion between 2021 and 2024, according to YouTube CEO Neal Mohan.
Spotify will report its first quarter revenue on Tuesday.
