Hello, let me do it.
Today, we put out the last weekly work podcast. This is the end of the execution after 153 episodes and 3MN downloads.
I invited a colleague of three experts and talked about what has changed at work (and what is not) since the host’s headphones were first installed in October 2021. Ta. It was a wonderful seeing. Please enjoy it.
My biggest thanks are thanks to working IT producers, Misha Frankl Dubal.
Read the news of a huge research project that has a recommendation for how to improve your skills, productivity, and welfare in all workplaces. Jonathan Black advises those who have quit the “passion” job, and now want to return.
I’m a little drifting without a podcast, so I’ll write more about the “good ending” next week. If you are thinking about processing, reflection, and reorganization after the end of the project, job, etc., please contact us: isabel.berwick@ft.com.
There is no robot revolution without humans (properly trained)
For the past three years, I am a member of the steering group of Pissarides reviews and have reviewed the future of work and happiness. Conducted research in 1,000 workplaces in which the Nobel Prize -winning economists, Christopher Pisalides IR, and the future of work, the team of the Imperial College, Warwick Business School, a team of Nafield and Foundation. Seeing what I did, I saw it. 。
Their purpose? AI and automation actually change the work, society, and the economy, find out where there is a gap between local, regional, national skills and trust, and create a better workplace. Economic and social results to provide solutions and practical ideas. According to the author’s words, “AI and automation can lead to a fair future of better jobs, but you need to change your attitude and build trust.”
The trust part really depends on the employer. The survey showed that excellent communication and HR policies were absolutely important to use automated workflows. (Aside from HR professionals: as an aside, it suggests that several experts have recent HR future internal consultant services and cover skills, processes, and technology. ) Deep deeper in the future newsletter.
Managers and leaders can read the entire Pissarides report and their recommendations here. At the time of this week, I would help all people with investment, information, and training opportunities to connect the central government and local governments with universities, universities, companies, and other interests. I looked it up and served as the chairman of the panel. For example, guidance on technical training opportunities related to Best Practis must be used by all companies.
We may be surprised to hear that only 2 % of British companies have multiple sites when they are in the excessive and very productive southeastern part of the United Kingdom. It is a difficult task to embed the appropriate skills of the manager and staff, the knowledge and support of the manager and staff in a small workplace in the remote area.
The situation is progressing. The government has announced an AI investment measure to “charging growth and boosting the standard of living.” These include some AI growth zones throughout the United Kingdom, special energy infrastructure and speed -up planning. The first zone is in Calham, Oxfordshire, the home of the UK atomic Energy Bureau. (And a railway service will be provided between Oxford, a British mini -shiri con volleyball, and Cambridge.)
However, AI is only part of a much larger shift to automation. One of the statistics that attacked me from the release of the report: 20 % of British adults, the basic digital and adaptive problem solving skills necessary to deal with the current large -scale workplace. I lack.
20 %Number of adults in the UK without basic digital skills
Investment required for appropriate training and skill programs. 。 。 It will be huge. And the employer must pay most of it. Without that investment, millions of people will be left behind. Like a classroom, everyone needs to grasp the basics.
The 20 % of the numbers came from Pissarides Report, one of TERA ALLAS, the chairman of the Pro Bono Economics, and McKinsey’s senior economic advisor Tera Allas. Terra said:
“My colleagues in McKinsey are, not to say, to make it beneficial for those who are involved in these transitions in all technology investments, 4 to 5 times more invested in human capital. Suggests that is necessary.
Like technology, the most important component is human input.
In short, business needs to be a big and very large to train workers for the future of technology.

Dear Jonathan 📩
Question: I quit my work in the creative industry for the role in the service industry, which was one step between salary and responsibility. I made a mistake: I have good extra money, but I do not enjoy my life or work. what can i do? Can I go back and lower the knuckle here, or do I need to move again?
Jonathan Black’s career advice: You may be feeling drifting, but please bless that you have made a mistake.
In the ideal world, we can predict what new work, flat, and partners will do without commitment. However, sometimes you need experience to make a decision based on sufficient information. You did it in this job and noticed that it wasn’t working.
Not only knows you have made a mistake and learned what is important for you, but you are ready to act based on it. What are your options? First of all, you are in a job, so you are not in a hurry. Continue to provide your best job and try to distinguish job hunts so that your current role is not dangerous. If there is a possibility that the current role can be adjusted to a role that suits you, explore it.
Next, clarify what you want -is it exactly the same, or is there an element that changes about old jobs? Relatulates the network of your old employer and sector other people and find out what roles there.
Returning to the old employer is not embarrassing. In fact, in many cases, people return to different roles with more skills and experience. And the old employer may not have understood what they had until you left, and they value you more now.
You may also come across other exciting opportunities than returning to an old organization. Eventually, the place to land should be better than the current role.

Tips from charter: How to clean the air between colleagues using AI
Kevin Deranny, editor -in -chief of Charter, a future media and research company, shares this interesting exchange from Davos last week. And employees who did not work together. “It was one of the situations they continued to talk about what they talked about,” Katsoudas said. The colleague gained permission and chatted through the generated AI tools for the analysis.
“I was obviously frustrated because the employee continued to ask the same questions over and over again, and your communication is your frustration.” You have reached the question, right? “I remembered Cathoda.
One of her team members shared the analysis with the relevant employees, resonating with them, and saving more dissatisfaction time.
“The intervention has been picked up by more skilled facilitators until recently,” said Amy Edmondson, a professor at Harvard Business School. “It’s really difficult for people to learn these skills. In other words, they have learned with the most confidence in the 30 -year education, and they don’t seem to need them now.”

When BBC’s comedy returned to Christmas special last month, it encouraged my family to watch it again from the beginning. The series of Sue, Pete Blockman (Claire Skinner and Hugh Dennis) and their three children was broadcast from 2007 to 2014 and aired in the first Christmas episode in 2016. The good news is that it works incredibly. Only the flip phone has a date.
And if you are used to it, I hope you will be surprised by your family. All episodes are on the BBC Iplayer/ Apple TV+ US.
