Tiktok has darkened for 170 million US users as a law that requires Chinese parent company ordinances to sell shares in the app or to allow the ban to come into effect overnight.
In a pop-up posted on the Short Form Video app before the midnight deadline, the company wrote: Unfortunately, that means that you cannot use Tiktok for now. ”
“We are fortunate that President Trump has shown he will work with us in a solution to bring Tiktok back to office. Stay tuned!”
Tiktok’s video feed was otherwise inaccessible to users in the US, one of the largest markets. Apps no longer appear in the Apple and Google App Stores.
Other apps owned by ByteDance, including the video editing app CapCut and the social media app Lemon8, displayed similar messages and were not available in the app store.
